VINTAGE GARDEN TABLE

Lately, I have been dreaming of sunny days and warm evenings

dining out on the patio, relaxing on the chaise lounge

and digging my toes in the warm sandy beach area.

I know, I know...

it's January.

I am just not a winter girl...

I'm an August baby &

the golden sunshine days of summer really do call to me.

I love the window boxes on the house to be filled with

bunches of red geraniums,

overflowing white bacopa and creeping thyme

I crave the warm mornings with bright sunshine awakening the world,

while sipping hot coffee and greeting the day

out on the backyard patio.

Listening to the sounds of the birds chirping as they flit about in the trees,

rows of lavender & rosemary in bloom

& the intoxicating smell of blossoming roses as they creep

along the lattice walls of the patio...

*sigh*

Every year at this time~

I seem to find myself with the winter blah's...

and dreaming about warm sunny days.

We are lucky to have been enjoying beautiful spring like weather.

It is a welcome & much appreciated break in the snow and cold of winter.

So, even though it's not spring yet

I was inspired to create a little garden breakfast table for two

up on the pea gravel patio.

Petite belgian waffles with a strawberry on creamy vintage monogramed plates

set over vintage reticulated silver

The antique patio set I shared the other day makes for a perfect garden dining spot.

Here's a before picture of the chairs~

Originally, they were covered in this chinoiserie print

and stained and dirty when I found them.

I went back and forth between an english cottage floral or

dainty french ticking stripes.

I decided on the ticking fabric mainly because I felt that

the florals that I had on hand didn't work as well.

I reversed the fabric for a more faded look &

am planning to attempt (oh boy!)

to make some flirty little linen slipcovers.

I think they came out cute- though not 100% sure it is the ideal fabric yet...

good thing they are an easy re-do!

The surrounding landscape is is bare and dormant in January

so mossy balls in a galvanized bucket, cut flowers & a beautiful lavender

warm the table.

Just yesterday, we woke up to a little blanket of snow

& 2 days ago it was in the mid 60's

Talk about crazy weather!

All of you who have been in the midst of so much winter weather and snow~
I do hope that better weather is coming soon!

TARNISHED SILVER ~ FEATHERED NEST FRIDAY No. 19

What's been inspiring me this week?

The weather!!

Glorious, beautiful spring like weather right in the midst of January

I am loving it!!

I have a bunch of projects twirling around in my head that want to get done...

but I have been playing this week and enjoying the warm sunshine.

But I did put together a little vignette on the mantle in my bedroom to share today.

That chippy, shabby old mirror I shared before is a

perfect for the backdrop of pieces of old silver.

It's worn and tattered & the old wavy silvered mirror is aged to perfection.

I love vintage, tarnished and shabby silver pieces ~

there's just something about the old look that darkened silver has that brings so much warmth.

Though, sometimes I love it all dark and sometimes I love

it all polished and pretty too!

I grouped a few of my silver pieces together on the mantle with a

flea find silver champagne bucket filled with a few of those delightful hydrangea blooms...

and added a couple of dainty berry topiaries in clay urns on the sides.

I just love the look of old vintage silver & collect pieces as I find them.

Mixed & matched & grouped all together

they are just beautiful!

WEATHERED & WORN PATINA

I love this shabby mix of colors...

That gorgeous old vintage green mixed with a soft pale yellow

and natural rusty brown from the old weathered iron..

I love french garden style and old crusty, rusty pieces like this one.

Though the chairs have most of their paint worn away from the years of use

and are a dark rust color

They have a warm rubbed patina that is beautiful in itself

and such gorgeous flower details on the backs.

A wee tiny rosemary sprig creeping out from a galvanized flower bucket

while lavender fills a delightful embossed bin

brings beauty and warmth to the bare winter patio

The shabby rusty patina, graceful scrolling curves

& bunches of flowers on the table

Creates a different warmth and

brings shabby, weathered & worn

to perfection.

While editing, I think I clicked the save as draft button not publish~ Oops! My blogger has been a bit weird lately too... anyone else noticing glitches?

Anyway, today I am working on re-upholstering the cushions

THE KIBBLE & BITS CREW

When Bella heard there was a pet party going on...

she decided she had to join in!

She was even thinking of throwing a little 'Kibble Party' and invite the rascals...

but the rascals just wanted to go for their walk,

They were not so sure about sitting all prim and proper for a 'Kibble Tea"

Since Bella was pooped out anyway,

she decided to just share a few pictures with you today.

You have met Miss Bella before...

she hosted a tea party in the forest during the summer last year-

entertaining is one of those things she loves to do...

when she's not sunbathing at the beach or napping...

(even on my handbag in the car -lol! the girl's got style!!)

Miss Aubrey, the weimeraner & Mr. Otey the weimaraner/...?

... uhh...yeah...

Well, let's just say his dad 'stopped' by one day for a little visit with Aubrey

and we haven't seen him since.

lol!

The big dogs love to go on walks-

it's one of their favorite things to do and they are wild and crazy big dogs!

Bella is not too crazy, she just loves to bark ,

chase the kitty and she loves to visit with her cousin Mickey Moo.

Cousin Mickey comes to visit and stay with us when his family goes out of town every year.

They have so much fun playing and swiping chewies from each other!

A LITTLE BIT RUSTIC... FEATHERED NEST FRIDAY No. 18

I decided to put together a natural, quiet mantle

with faded , shabby and rustic elements

and some pretty mixed in.

A little burlap on top of the mantle for a rustic base.

Stacks of old worn and faded books...

a wire cloche with a beautiful vintage religious statue inside

and my Charles Faudree-esque brass dog bookends.

This darling vintage brass cherub holding up a little tiny clock was

a recent thrift purchase.

I just love the dainty bow details on the clock

and sweet look on this little guys face

A favorite white berry garland wreath adorning the mirror

& a galvanized metal bucket of dried hydrangeas

that moved from the armoire & found a home for now on the mantle.

(have you noticed it's kinda my favorite flowers to have

around the house?)

So, a little bit rustic

a little bit natural ...

and a little bit pretty!

Just a quick post today.

It's been kind of busy here so I haven't gotten much feathering done this week.
