FRENCH COTTAGE BEDROOM

Sharing a few changes in the bedroom-
    it's not 100% finished -
as I continue to look for
    the perfect accents,
the perfect red toile sheer panels,
    the perfect everything...

    Well,
it could be awhile before I share the finished room
so this is how it is now.

    This antique shabby old headboard
wears it's original chippy, worn distressed finish and
brings a shabby french elegance & charm to the room.

The old hand painted pink rose details that accent it have long faded away
~the rose swag applique was an addition and painted to blend in.

    D R E A M
spelled out above the bed on the shelf reminds me to
    Dream while I am sleeping..
    and
    Keep Dreaming
    during the day.

The chandelier got a little love with addition of a few crystal strands
just enough to bring a bit of bling.

    A creamy seashell edged quilt
layered over a white bedspread covers the bed
while an old red toile blanket warms your toes at the foot.

An old wicker basket holds a vintage inspired ruffled quilt
~an extra throw for a chilly night.

A favorite french commode from the living room
moves into the bedroom as a nightstand.

I love how this larger piece really fills the space
and I love the faux marble painted top and gilded accents.

The red checked settee is staying for now...but probably not for long.
I am thinking of other spots it might be moving to
and imagining something a little different at the foot of the bed.

The darling cherub lamp was a thrift find...
    I absolutely adore it.

The bedroom has corner windows and a french door-
lots of warm natural light flooding in.
We added the bedroom about 5 years ago, but corner windows are an original
feature of our 1940's cottage that each bedroom has.
So the corner windows in here as well as beadboard walls, ceiling,
rustic shabby beams and hardwood floors
all help to make the addition blend like it was always here.

More to come as I find the elements I have been looking for and make changes-
and I'll share a tour of the rest of the space once the fireplace is redesigned.
I have been looking everywhere for the sheer panels
and was not intending on the red florals from the kitchen-
but they are there for now. What do you think?

I am also thinking of changing the paint color-
but I realized my inspiration room looks much like this room already-
with yellow walls and white beamed ceiling- so before taking on a big painting job
I am trying to make this soft yellow work.

    So for now...
    a little bling...
    a little faded elegance...
and a little French Country charm.

*Making a few more changes as we speak!!
    Stay tuned!!*
