A LITTLE LOUIS

    Oh I just Love
    me some Louis...

    Louis Armoires,
    louis settees,
    a little Louis Vuitton ;)
    and ...
    Louis chairs.

    Love them...
    LOVE them..
    L.O.V.E. Them.

    yes...
    I love a little Louis.

This little charmer is covered in glorious carvings.
Along the frame and the back ~detailed rope
and a delicate ribbon and bow at the crest.
Acanthus leaves along the fronts of the arms and blocks
touched by gilding at the top of the legs.
    *sigh*

Covered in chippy old paint and wearing a rich teal velvet dressing...
this chair is unexpected and inspiring.

A thrift store find several years ago,
I adored it's shabby finish, elegant gilding and beautiful lines...
the sweet ribbon at the crest is absolutely gorgeous.

It's crackled, yellowed paint, old carvings and chips proudly show it's age
as well as a crack on the inside of one of the back legs which makes it
    less than perfect...
    but that didn't bother me.
I love a piece that is authentic and real and loved.
The price: (if I remember correctly around $35)
Yes, this petite treasure was coming home with me.

The rich peacock blue velvet is delightful.
    Bold.
    Unexpected
    & regal.

    When I found this chair...
I had visions of shabby white...
pretty pinks and charming French ticking...

I have thought about reupholstering many times since finding it
    but
    I haven't done it...
    yet.

There's something about that bold color
    it has such charm and
it's perfect for a classic piece such as this...
a bit of pizazz and elegance
    on
    an old, worn treasure...

    So for now...
I am just loving this little Louis as it is...
    it's just perfect.

    :)

    Happy August Everyone!
